Chicago Jazz Magazine interviews the Jeff Lindberg about the CJO’s role as resident orchestra for the Kennedy Center Honors Gala for 26 years.
The most memorable year was in December of 1999, a few months after Joe Williams had passed away. As a tribute to Joe, Herbie Hancock, Stevie Wonder and Diane Schuur sat in and performed “Ev’ry Day I Have The Blues.” Then Stevie Wonder sat down at the piano and broke into “Giant Steps.” It was incredible.
